Empty House Study

For this performative action I use a rope, which is  a found object from a beach in Suffolk. For me  seemed to resemble a washed up angel and perhaps also to be somehow symbolic of death. For this sequence in the Empty House Studies, I perform meditative Gestures in the late evening light, performing with my body with the object, exploring my own physical limits, making shadows amongst the detritus of the kitchen (A Toddler swing etc) . I dressed in white to accentuate the transition from light to darkness and to further dramatise the blackness of the rope. It felt as though I was painting with my own shadow creating  links and harmony between my body and the object.
