Empty House Study

This performative action was filmed very early in the morning. Here the simple action is of cleaning pots and dishes, mirroring the everyday actions and the passing of time within a day. I remembered conversations with both my father and my grandfathers taking place when washing up, peeling potatoes. I remember  particularly deep conversations with my grandfather, and my father doing the same years after. Somehow re enacting this simple gesture and action with the sun rising outside, added a sense of poignancy. The music as with all the studies is a second long composition by Roger Redgate which acts as an opening to each visual poem. My figure in the frame of the landscape beyond also seems to also represent a metaphoric frame for this piece.
